National economic authorities have committed to representatives of national jurisdiction passenger transport companies in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) to transfer funds this week to settle pending debts and regularize bus services. According to a statement, these remittances will be transferred to the companies during the current week, with the aim of contributing to the regularization of their accounts and bus frequencies. The delay in transferring funds to public passenger transport motivated many bus companies to reduce their frequencies in recent days, causing inconvenience and delays for thousands of passengers in the Federal Capital and Greater Buenos Aires. The meeting was headed by the heads of the Infrastructure Coordination Secretariat, Carlos Frugoni; the National Secretary of Transport, Fernando Herrmann; and the Undersecretary of Land Transport, Fernando Cortés. From the Transport Secretariat, a 'plan of action was presented aimed at establishing concrete guidelines to advance, in the short term, the reorganization of the system'. 'During the meeting, different technical and economic variables were analyzed with the purpose of improving the general functioning of the system and guaranteeing a level of service in line with the demand of users,' the Transport Secretariat's statement indicated. Likewise, proposals were presented aimed at 'reducing operational costs and optimizing the system,' and progress was made in developing 'tools that make routes more transparent and improve them according to the real demand of users'. Last Thursday, the formation of technical work tables was agreed upon among the different sector actors, with the aim of establishing a permanent channel of dialogue between the State and business chambers. In this context, the meeting held 'is part of that process and reflects the willingness of the National State to support the sector in the implementation of solutions that allow for the consolidation of a more efficient and higher quality service for users'. Finally, a new work meeting was agreed to be held under the same conditions within the next fifteen days.
